E-learning and the Digital Divide Role in Transforming Higher Education in Sudan: An Exploratory Case Study Analysis It was a great honor and privilege to have our paper accepted for the International Conference of World Association for Sustainable Development (WASD) – The Future of Higher Education in MENA towards achieving Agenda 2030. Our research article was titled E-learning and the Digital Divide Role in Transforming Higher Education in Sudan: An Exploratory Case Study Analysis by Omer Abdelhamid Gibreel, Mohamed Abdelghadir Mahdi, and Ali Awadallah Saeed. The Conference was held from Sunday 21st to Monday 22nd February 2021. Our paper pointed out that Sudan needs to consider e-learning solutions to solve our nation’s current higher education crisis. Issues such as global pandemics, transportation costs, and the rise in the inflation rate can be significant reasons universities would step forward and develop E-learning systems for their students. Unfortunately, E-learning initiatives in Sudan are still at their starting stage. Furthermore, there is a need to establish E-learning initiatives across Africa and the Middle east. On the other hand, there is a need for more awareness and skill-building both on the student and the professor levels. National University Sudan’s success to fully implement an e-learning management system on all courses for colleges such as pharmacy and medical laboratory showcase that with excellent planning and strong commitment, much could be done. Sudan is still working on building up its internet penetration rate. The promising aspect of e-learning is yet to be capitalized on by other universities in Sudan. Nonetheless, We Aspire for National University Sudan to be a great role model in E-learning initiative and know-how in Sudan and help bring about more innovative solutions and advancement in higher education in Sudan.
